Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today said new government jobs in the state will be given to those having basic computer knowledge.

"The state government has so far provided computer training to its 20,000 employees and in new recruitment drive, those having computer ability and training will get government jobs," Gehlot said, addressing a batch of engineering students at Jaipur Engineering College and Research Centre (JERC) here.

Employees with computer knowledge will help taking the e-governance up to village level, he said, adding the government has earmarked 3 per cent of the budget allocation in all departments to the IT sector.

Gehlot said that due to privatisation of higher technical and medical education, the state had received an investment of Rs 4000 crore from private institutions in past few years.

The first women polytechnic in the state would be opened in Bharatpur soon, he said.
