Even as the worldwide web is creeping into our lives more than ever, spending close to 3.5 hours a week online or 26 minutes a day, a study finds that the netizens in this part of the globe spend less time on the net during the weekend.

A latest report by IMRB International, titled the Internet Audience Measurement (IAM), shows the netizens spend 12 per cent less time on the weekend, and prefer to spend the time for relaxing, get-togethers and probably for partying.

The marketing research firm's report further reveals some interesting info: that women spend even lesser time proportionately during weekends. While the time spent on weekend is lower for both men and women, it seems to be well- spent on sites that are related to the weekend activities.

The study shows that the browsing of social networking sites increases gradually during the week reaching a peak on Fridays by as much as over 12 per cent, probably indicating that men and women are planning get-togethers over the weekend, said IMRB International President Thomas Puliyel, releasing the report.
