To enhance the contribution of Congress legislators during the ongoing legislature session, the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has set up a Research and Information Centre at its office in Vidhan Bhavan.

The office has been equipped with wi-fi, internet facilities, so that legislators can access information on relevant and burning issues and highlight them in the legislature. The Centre will provide regular inputs with expert advice.

"They have to be well-equipped to counter the propaganda by the Opposition on issues like nuclear power, MPCC general secretary Sanjay Dutt, co-ordinator for the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) said.

"Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan feels that the bar of qualitative contribution from the Congress legislators should be raised," he said.

Dutt said that party legislators will make representation in the House on various important issues pertaining to development and welfare, their constituencies and districts and issues related to common man, farmers, labourers, women, youth and weaker sections.

Dutt said that Congress legislators from Mumbai met Chavan at the Sahayadri guest-house and discussed issues pertaining to the city.
