Milind Deora, Union Minister of State for Communications and IT said on Friday that norms for measuring electromagnetic radiation (EMF) from telecom masts are being framed by the government.

"We are working on a national level telecom policy. This will include norms for measuring EMF radiation from cellular phone base stations. These will be in accordance with the norms laid down by the WHO, so that radiation levels in our country comply with international norms," he said.

Inaugurating the Aadhar Unique Identification (UID) card registration facility at the Nariman Point branch of India Post in Mumbai, he said the vast network of post offices would be used to deliver financial inclusion as well as banking services.

"While security and surveillance is one aspect of Aadhar, the government would be able to implement national rural employment guarantee schemes better, as well as better target subsidies. We would leverage the nationwide network of the post offices to improve the postal savings. We are also looking at including other banking services under this," he added.
