The pilot phase of e-district Kerala had issued one million digital certificates for permissible services to applicants in less than two years since its launch in 2008.

Thirty five districts across the country including the two districts of Kerala were selected for the implementation of the pilot phase.

Kerala state IT Mission, which is the implementation agency of the project, said in a release here that citizens who had applied online for various certificates for permissible services, were issued certificates through the e-District portal which contained the digital signature of the issuing officer concerned.

Scanned copies of relevant supporting documents like SSLC certificate, driving licence, ration card, voter ID and election ID were sought from citizens who filed online applications.

All the successful services in the pilot phase would be implemented state-wide by extending the programme to all districts. District e-Governance committees had been formed in all the 14 districts for the effective monitoring of advancements in each district.

The IT Mission had also established a separate web portal for centralised monitoring of day-to-day updations and progress of the project, the release said.
