Customers can now get information on branches of banks spread across the country with a click of a button as RBI has introduced a database giving information on location, code and licence details.

Recently launched 'Bank Branch Locator' is a dynamic database that gives information on location, population group, authorised dealer category and licence details of branches of any bank, including foreign, private sector and regional rural bank, RBI said in a release.

Users of this database can search for bank branches on the basis of the name of the centre, some key words in the address and combinations of state or district or bank, it said.

There are about 90,000 bank branches spread across the country.

"The information in this branch locator will be updated on a daily basis," it said, adding that the information can be downloaded in excel format from it.

The information in this branch locator is as reported by banks in terms of existing branch authorisation policy, it added.
