Days after announcing that she will not be joining the American presidential race next year, US glamorous politician Sarah Palin has changed her 'Facebook' profile from "Republican" to "Conservative".

Known as a staunch Republican, the 47-year-old ex-Alaskan governor had on October 5 announced that she wouldn't seek the Republican US presidential nomination in 2012. "When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order," she said in a letter to supporters.

Now, Palin, the Republican nominee for US vice president in 2008 poll, has nailed her political colours to the mast and changed her social networking website Facebook's profile from "Republican" to "Conservative".

The move on the "political views" section of her page has left political commentators struggling to decipher what the the former Alaska governor is trying to say, the 'Daily Mail' online reported.

One long-time blogger and Palin supporter wrote: "I suppose one could draw a multitude of conclusions regarding this status change. I know that I certainly have. You can be certain that any move Sarah Palin makes has been well thought out and is with purpose.

"Could she possibly be sending a message... that they need to strengthen the conservative planks of the Republican party. One thing is for sure, time will tell."

The news comes as exit polls continued to indicate that Republicans aren't happy with Mitt Romney, a candidate for the 2012 Republican Party presidential nomination, and they have been looking for other candidates.
