The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is all set to make the tax system easier to understand. The corporation is developing software by which the citizens will be able to directly access the data with BMC. The BMC has the details and codes of every property used to calculate the property tax according to the capital value.
In May this year, new taxation proposal was cleared by the civic standing committee. This system shifts the calculation of property tax from the rateable value system to the capital value system. Now, as all the details of your property are easily accessible via BMC records, you will be better able to check details and calculate the capital value of your property and also the taxes on your own.
