Stakeholders of national grid computing initiative to meet in Bangalore

Fifth GARUDA Partners Meet on May 20 & 21

As part of knowledge dissemination, the Indian National Grid Computing Initiative,the GARUDA Partner's meet will be held on May 20 and 21 here.

GARUDA is a Nation-wide Grid spread over 17 cities of the country, comprising computational nodes, mass storage, scientific instruments and collaboration of science researchers. The objective is to bring "Grid networked computing research, to facilitate scientific, engineering solutions for socio-economic development, C-DAC Executive Director N Sarat Chandra Babu told reporters today.

The GARUDA computing and storage resources are made available over high speed National Knowledge Network (NKN).

Senior delegates from scientific and academic institutes partnering with GARUDA will be attending this meet.

GARUDA Project has been spearheaded by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Knowledge Park, Bangalore Centre and supported by Department of Information Technology (DIT), Government of India.

A Computational Grid is a collection of resources owned by multiple organizations that is coordinated, to allow them to solve a common problem.
