Tata Teleservices unveiled the upgrade version of Tata Photon -- Tata Photon on Rev.B -- on the CDMA platform to provide the broadband speed of up to 14.7 Mbps to its users.

Tata Photon on Rev.B will be available in 27 major metros and cities across the country, Tata Teleservices Ltd said in a statement. The rest of the country to be covered soon, it added.

"Tata Photon on Rev.B will provide our customers with unfettered mobile broadband access and enable them to experience super-fast speeds on their laptops, PCs and other devices," Tata Teleservices Ltd Mobility Business Executive President Deepak Gulati said.

However, the company did not disclose the price of the product. The Tata Photon on Rev.B Solution is in the final phase of testing, and the product will be commercially available in the market in the second fortnight of September, the company said.

Earlier during the day, another CDMA service provider, Sistema Shyam TeleServices (SSTL), which offers services under the MTS brand, announced the launch of a faster version of its broadband service 'MBlaze', priced at Rs 2,499 and offering speed of up to 9.8 Mbps.

The new service, MBlaze Ultra, would be launched in a phased manner. SSTL plans to invest close to Rs 50 crore in Rajasthan during 2011, MTS said. It has invested Rs 13,500 crore in India so far.

The company's earlier product MBlaze, which offers speed of up to 3.1 Mbps, is available at Rs 1,599. It will continue to offer the product in the Indian market.
