Infosys is all set to become India’s e-governance favourite; after just months of bagging a contract from India Post, it has beaten closest rival Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to win the next phase of flagship projects by ministry of corporate affairs. The MCA-21 project will begin by January 2013 as per a government official who did not wish to be identified.
"We received bids from top IT firms for continuance of MCA-21 project. The new term will be for 6 years, post which if the ministry so desires, we can look at an extension of 2 years," said a senior MCA official involved with the project
MCA-21 was conceived in 2002 and since then it has made it easier for companies to register, change ownership details, and file balance-sheets and profit and loss statements online.
According to sources, Infosys bid about Rs 260 crore against a TCS bid for Rs 320 crore.
