Traders observe bandh opposing license fee hike

Local traders on Wednesday observed a bandh in Vijayawada opposing unprecedented hike in trade license fee by the municipal corporation.

They were also opposing the proposal to impose new taxes.

All trade organisations including Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce, Andhra Chamber of Commerce , Film Exhibitors Association and others supported the bandh and have asked their members not to open their business houses.

As a result, all shops and other business establishments remained closed. The banks were also closed in view of security. However, road transport remained unaffected.

Traders in the city with the support of TDP and CPI led rallies in the city at many places to express their angst on the adamant attitude of the municipal corporation in Vijayawada.
