Jharkhand government announced that one hundred villages would be made model villages with a special effort to help each family increase its monthly income.

In the first phase of the project, at least one village from each of the 81 constituencies will be given all basic amenities, with efforts to provide means to every family of the villages enhance their monthly income by Rs 7000, Deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Mahto informed the assembly on Monday.

The project would be completed within three years, said Mahto, who has rural development, forest, sports and other portfolios, while replying ahead of clearance of budget proposals for each of his department.

In another programme, he said the government would take up agricultural-based projects in its endeavour to upgrade BPL families into APL ones.

Stating that the state got central funds of Rs 766 crore during the last years for the multi-purpose Swarnareka project, Mahto assured the house that 20,000 hectare land would get irrigation facilities by this June.

Stating that his forest department was in touch with the Centre to get permission for ?Night Safari? at the Birsa Munda Zoological Park situated on the outskirts of Ranchi, he said his department has plans to set up a butter-fly park and toy-train in the zoo at the earliest.

He said a Sports University in the Mega Sports Complex here would be established by 2012-13.
