Jagan Reddy arrested

He insisted on launching his controversial yatra

Andhra Pradesh Congress leader Jagan Reddy was arrested in Warangal on Friday for breaking law and order as he wanted to proceed with his controversial padayatra plans. Reddy was taken into preventive custody when he refused to discard his yatra plans inspite of being warned against it given that Warangal is a Maoist-hit district.

Jagan Reddy likely to get Congress notice?

The Jagan Reddy factor is now looming large in Andhra Pradesh. The late chief minister YSR's son has timed his padayatra in such a way that it shows he wants to put the Congress on notice – just before the Rajya Sabha elections in the state. AICC's reasoning has been that Jagan should call off the padayatra keeping the sentiments of Congress MLAs and MPs. Since Jagan has gone against them, he risks his suspension from the Congress and the first step towards that is a show-cause notice, party insiders say.

About 25-30 Congress MLAs of Andhra Pradesh are to meet in Hyderabad on Sunday to decide the future course of action.

On Friday morning Jagan Reddy left for Warangal to start padayatra. The train in which Jagan was travelling was stopped near Warangal and stoned, leaving many injured. Jagan was escorted out of the train and was now travelling by road to Warangal.

Meanwhile, since Thursday 15-20 Andhra Congress MPs have started arriving in Delhi to avoid staying in their constituencies when the Jagan factor is looming large.
