The Nitish Kumar government has given emphasis on closely monitoring the credit disbursal activities of the commercial banks to achieve the RBI-suggested CDR target of 35 per cent, as against the national average of 70 per cent, during the current fiscal.

Deputy chief minister S K Modi, who also holds the finance portfolio, said today that for the first the deposits with the commercial banks in Bihar crossed the magic figure of Rs 1,00,000 crore-mark (Rs 1,01,762 crore on September, 2010).

"Now we are giving thrust on closely monitoring credit disbursal activities of the commercial banks to achieve the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) of Rs 37,000 crore before March 31, 2011", Modi said.

He said the banks now needed to augment credit disbursal to achieve the RBI-suggested CDR target of 35 per cent, as against the national average of 70 per cent, during the current fiscal.

Stating that the state had immense potential for economic development, Modi said economic activities were bound to accelerate.

"We will hold agri-loan camps in all block headquarters to extend every type of loans for agricultural purposes - kisan credit cards and loans for crop, dairy, poultry, fishery and farm mechanisation, he said.

Such loan camps on the 10th of every month, for the next three months, would be attended by all banks and concerned government departments to facilitate the process.

Modi said educational loans were also high on government's agenda.
