BJP today slammed the ministers of Delhi government for issuing "misleading" statements on regularisation of unauthorised colonies ahead of municipal elections and alleged the Congress was again going to play fraud with the people.
"In September 2008, Congress played a drama of distributing provisional certificates but the reality is that Delhi government has not regularised a single colony till date. Even the initial process of fixing boundaries of the colonies has not been completed till today by the government," Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta said.
He was addressing a public meeting at the foundation stone laying ceremony of MCD's Pratibha Prathmik Vidyalaya to be constructed at the cost of Rs 6.57 crore at Sant Ravidas Nagar (Jahangirpuri).
"Delhi's urban development minister Ashok Walia should answer whether the central government is to regularise the colonies and on what grounds he was claiming that all the process related to regularisation of about 150 colonies has been completed and forwarded to the central government for approval?" he said.
Gupta alleged that in view of forthcoming MCD elections, the ministers have "once again started issuing misleading statements on regularisation of unauthorised colonies so that 50 lakh people living in these colonies may be convinced that the government was very much worried for them".
He also alleged that some Congress leaders were also involved in the case of fictitious colonies.
"They are adding insult to injury of the people by saying that the process of regularisation is being completed," Gupta said, adding BJP strongly opposes "the cheating with 50 lakh people" and will start movement for securing the rights of the people living in these colonies.
Delhi mayor Rajni Abbi and chairman of MCD standing committee Yogendra Chandolia were present among others.
Chandolia alleged that Delhi government is blaming MCD to hide its inefficiency in regularising the unauthorised colonies.
"MCD takes up issues of regularisation of unauthorised colonies on priority. It is the Delhi government that sits on the issues and doesn't act promptly," he claimed.
