Top BJP leaders met prime minister Manmohan Singh today and demanded immediate recall of Karnataka governor H R Bhardwaj accusing him of acting in a partisan manner.

In a memorandum submitted to the PM, the BJP delegation led by senior party leader L K Advani said the governor acted with "pre-determined mind" in sending his report to the Centre recommending President's Rule in Karnataka "within minutes" after the trust vote in the state Assembly on Monday.

Home minister P Chidambaram was also present when BJP leaders including Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Venkaiah Naidu met the Prime Minister.

"We have met both the PM and the home minister and submitted a detailed memorandum. Our meeting was only regarding the Karnataka Governor. The party has demanded that he should be recalled immediately," Jaitley told a press conference after the meeting.

He alleged "the Raj Bhavan in Bangaluru has been converted into an epicentre of horse trading in order to destabilise the state government there".

Jaitley said that the governor was "acting with pre-determined mind" and he made the recommendation for President's Rule in the state "literally within minutes".

The BJP leader claimed that neither the action nor the language of the overnor was in consonance with the dignity of the Constitutional office.

Jaitley alleged that the Governor "failed to politically detach himself from his past" and "remaining politically impartial is not in his nature".

He said the Centre should now fulfil its responsibility and recall the Governor.

Jaitley said that though the first trust vote was "conclusive", the party agreed for a second trust vote as suggested by the Governor because it wanted to "avoid a constitutional confrontation".
