The BJP in Jammu and Kashmir today said it has assured all help to Omar Abdullah government to bring peace in the Valley provided it does nothing to demoralise the security forces and gives them a free hand to tackle the situation.

"We have assured all possible help to Omar's government in bringing normalcy in valley provided no step is taken to demoralise the security forces and they are given free hand to tackle the situation with iron hand", Pradesh BJP President Shamsher singh Manhas told repoters here.

On his return after attending the all-party meeting convened by the Chief Minister in Srinagar, Manhas said if the government is sincere in bringing about peace in Kashmir, it will have to change its policy of appeasement and send out a clear signal that no one indulging in separatist and anti-national activities will be spared.

The party impressed upon the Chief Minister that as the head of a democratically elected government, he should take appropriate steps under the Constitution against a handful of separatist leaders, who have been misleading the people at the behest of the diktats of their masters sitting across the border, he said.

"Instead of putting them in jails, they are being treated as VVIPS and sometimes even if they are put under house arrest, it is assumed that this is drama to keep them in news", he said.

The government must take stern action against them when it has enough proof that these people preach sedition, provoke people to raise anti-India slogans and instigate the youth to indulge in stone pelting on police and security forces, Manhas said.

BJP has assured its support to the chief minister in forming all-party peace committees in the Valley to persuade the misguided youth to quit the path they are treading and prevail upon their parents to ensure that their children are kept away from such activities, he said.

The party also raised the issue of creating more job avenues for the youth by setting up big industrial projects like a rail coach factory in the state, Manhas said.

"We were assured by the Union minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr Farooq Abdullah and Pradesh Congress Committee President Saifuddin Soz at the meeting that the issue would be taken up seriously with the central government," he said.
