An eight-year old boy, who underwent a brain tumor surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), alleges he was sexually abused by a doctor inside the hospital premises three days after his surgery.

The boy was admitted to the neurosurgery department of the hospital on January 18 and underwent the surgery on January 20. On January 23, he said he was taken to the doctors’ duty room from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and sexually abused. The boy was discharged from the hospital on January 24.

The boy narrated the incident to his mother on January 24 and his parents filed a complaint with the AIIMS administration on January 24. No police complaint has been filed yet and the case has been transferred to the committee for prevention of sexual harassment at AIIMS headed by Dr AC Ammini.

The committee called the victim’s family to be a part of the committee’s meeting on January 28. The report on the committee’s findings has not been released yet.
