Amidst signs of normality returning to the Darjeeling hills which saw an outburst of anger following Gorkha leader Madan Tamang's killing, central interlocutor for tripartite talks Vijay Madan met GJM chief Bimal Gurung.

Madan met Gurung last night at the GJM's office at Patlabas here to take forward the process for the next round of tripartite talks, which had at one stage looked uncertain after All India Gorkha League chief Madan Tamang's brutal killing last Friday.

According to GJM sources, Gurung in the meeting expressed keenness to attend the political-level talks which was originally scheduled for the last week of May.

The talks had hit a roadblock after Gurung, who is making all-out efforts to reclaim his sway over the hills after suffering a setback in the wake of Tamang's broad daylight murder, insisted on inclusion of Terai and Dooars region in the proposed interim set-up.

Meanwhile, the GNLF-supported MLA from Singhmari, Pranab Rai, today threatened to resign after accusing the West Bengal government of not providing enough security to Madan Tamang.

Rai alleged that lack of adequate security was the reason that Tamang's killers got access to him at the meeting venue near the Planter's Club on Friday.

GJM sources said the state government had not yet given permission for next Sunday's proposed rally in Darjeeling where MP Jaswant Singh is likley to be present.
