Bodoland Territorial Council chief and former insurgent leader Hagrama Mohilary has urged the government to also take a similar stand with NDFB anti-talk faction leader Ranjan Daimary as with ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa for lasting solution to the Bodo tangle.

Welcoming the release of Rajkhowa from jail on bail with the government not objecting to his bail to expedite the peace process, Mohilary today said the government should also offer similar facilities to NDFB (AT) chairman Ranjan Daimary and release him from jail for peace talks with the government.

Stating the government had been inviting the ULFA for discussions for a permanent solution to the decades long ULFA problem, he was hopeful of an amicable solution after the release of Rajkhowa.

Hagrama's armed group Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) had operated in the Bodo dominated areas of the state since June 18, 1996 demanding a separate state for the Bodos carved out of Assam.

After seven years, the BLT came overground and signed an MoU with the Centre on February 10, 2003. Altogether 2641 of its cadres laid down arms on December six that year disbanding the militant outfit, whose leaders then formed the BTC after contesting the elections.
