Cong may be preparing to consider JPC demand

Congress core group to meet on Thursday evening

The Congress may be preparing to consider the opposition demand for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) into the 2G spectrum scam

Party sources said the issue may be considered at the meeting of the Congress core group in the evening which will be attended by leaders including prime minister Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi.

They, however, said in the possibility of government considering a JPC then the Congress would like the terms of reference to include the period from the later part of 1990s when the telecom revolution was ushered in and would cover the period when BJP-led NDA was also in power.

With Parliament remaining paralysed on the opposition demand, the Core group is likely to take a decision on the issue which could help the government formulate its stand.
