Two head constables were today arrested here for allegedly demanding bribe from a woman against whom a Chandigarh court had issued an arrest warrant in connection with a cheque-bouncing case.

The duo was caught red-handed while accepting bribe from complainant Usha Agrawal, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said.

"Head constables Kuldeep Singh Kahlon and Jaspal Singh Rana of Chandigarh Police had come to Jaipur to execute the arrest warrant of Agrawal. They demanded bribe from Agrawal for not arresting her. However, she complained to the ACB following which the action was taken," they said.

"The duo took Rs 2500 from her in the morning and asked her to give Rs 5000 by afternoon. However, the ACB officials laid a trap following the complaint of the woman and arrested them red-handed," the officials said.

They will be produced before a local court tomorrow.

Earlier, a case was registered and an arrest warrant issued by the Chandigarh court against the woman in connection with a cheque-bouncing case.
