In a breather for embattled Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, a local court on Thursday postponed proceedings relating to his prosecution and referred to Lokayukta the allegations made in one of the complaints against him over illegal denotificaton of lands.

The 23rd additional civil and session court judge C B Hippargi, while pronouncing the order, directed the Lokayukta Superintendent of Police to inquire into the allegations made in the first complaint and submit a report within six weeks.

Thursday's order puts at rest speculations over the issue of summons on the complaint filed by advocates Sirajin Basha and K N Balaraj following the Governor's sanction for prosecuting the chief minister.

Yeddyurappa, who is facing allegations of corruption, nepotism and favouritism, has got respite till May 4, that too if Lokayukta Police can file their report after completing the inquiry.

Meanwhile, the court will begin the process of recording sworn statements of the complainants on the second complaint tomorrow, indicating that the exercise would take at least few months to complete recording of evidence on the remaining three complaints.

Basha and Balaraj have filed in all five complaints against Yeddyurappa and his family members.

The first complaint relates to denotification of lands allegedly to favour of his sons-- B Y Raghavendra, MP, B Y Vijendra and son-in-Law Sohan Kumar and their illegal sale by them.

The complainants have also alleged that Yeddyruappa ordered "illegal amalgamation" of a piece of land earmarked for road and ten sites in Arkavathy layout on an application filed by one Akkamma and others, though they did not own the land.

The court order comes as a relief for Yeddyurappa who is facing fresh trouble from dissidents questioning his leadership and seeking his removal.
