The Delhi development authority (DDA) is standing in the way of government officials waiting to get flats in commonwealth games village- one of the prime residential properties in the capital.

Sugata Roy, minister of state for urban development said on Wednesday that his ministry could not take a decision on the issue as the DDA had not responded to certain clarifications it had sought.

In October last, DDA had decided to give away 100 flats to the public and allotting the rest to government employees.

DDA will auction 100 flats in different categories through bidding process to determine the market rates.

“We have already received requests from different government departments for these flats,” the minister said.

DDA (management & disposal of housing estates) Regulation 1968 provides for allotment to individual and not to a government departments and public sector units (PSUs). The civic agency will request the ministry of urban development to relax this condition to incorporate officers of the central government, state government PSUs for the purpose of allotment.
