DDA to take legal action against Games Village developer

To confiscate Emaar- MGF’s bank guarantee

GN Bureau | October 20, 2010

The urban development ministry on Wednesday directed Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to invoke the Rs 183 crore bank guarantee furnished by the games village developer Emaar-MGF and initiate legal action after it found irregularities in the construction of the games village.

The ministry of urban development (MUD) had sought a report from DDA regarding the work done by Emaar-MGF and if the developer adhered to the project development agreement.

On Saturday, the DDA sent a preliminary report to the ministry which said that the developer did not stick to the timelines in the agreement and ignored various defects in the construction which were brought to its notice.

In its report, the DDA had proposed action against the developer including the invoking of bank guarantee.

“The project developer failed to achieve the milestones in time and it has also failed to make payments to various statutory bodies like Delhi Jal Board, BSES for making services available,” said the report.

On Wednesday, the MUD directed the DDA to proceed against the construction group.
