Madurai Model Agri-business company would take shape in a month

A group of farmers from this district have proposed to form a company to take up agriculture as a business venture at Vasinagar near Usilampatti.

The Madurai Model Agri-business company would take shape in a month, according to R Jayaraman, Member Secretary, Centre for Entrepreunership development (Tamil Nadu.)

Addressing a seminar on "Innovation and entrepreneurship," he said experts in the field of entrepreneurship are awating the result of the unit agri-business venture.If farmers joined to gather corporate farming was possible in large stretch of land, he said, adding farmers could recruit employees and make agriculture a profitable business working costs etc.

He hoped the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development would support the venture and others too can follow this model but what is required for doing this is sizeable agricultural land and market-oriented approach for agricultural business, he said.

The seminar was organised by Anna University of Technology here last evening.

The agriculture company would registered under the Companies Act and share certificates would be issued to participating farmers.
