Garib Rath derails

One killed, seven injured

A five-year-old boy died and seven passengers received injuries when coaches of Garib Rath Express (2518) derailed between Chautara and Gossaigaon Hat stations in Kokrajhar district, Assam on Thursday at about 2.20 am.

According to the reports, the engine along with one power car and five passenger coaches behind the engine of the train which left for Kolkata from Guwahati on Wednesday night derailed as a result of suspected bomb blast on the track by NDFB (National Democratic Front of Bodoland) militants.

The driver of the train also received a minor injury. They were provided medical aid at the site of the accident.

The accident relief medical team led by divisional railway manager of Alipurduar division reached the site. A special train is being arranged to carry the stranded passengers to Kolkata.
