Around 6,000 jobs will be provided to educated, unemployed migrant youth of Jammu and Kashmir under Prime Minister's package for rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants, a minister said today.

"The process of recruitment against 3,000 posts has been initiated by the state government and applications invited," minister for revenue, relief and rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, told the J&K legislative council in reply to a question.

Bhalla said relaxation of age in respect to over-aged candidates for direct recruitment to various posts applies to these posts as well.

In reply to another question on assistance to migrants, the minister said one time financial assistance of Rs one lakh would be provided to those migrants having agriculture holdings.

The Minister said migrants, who had outstanding loans against them before migration from valley, are entitled for waiver of the interest accumulated on such loans from the date of migration.

Bhalla said these facilities are available to only those migrants who would return to Kashmir valley.

Since no family has returned to valley, as such the benefit of scheme has not been availed as of now by any migrant family, he said.

However, out of 4,440 families, who have shown their willingness to return to valley, 1,682 have been sent to deputy commissioners concerned for verification of the status of their residential structures, agriculture and horticulture holdings, he said.
