Govt for periodic revision of minimum wages

Review actions taken to check cases of violence incidents in industrial units in Delhi and NCR

The government on Thursday said periodic revision of minimum wages and timely redress of grievances by states will help in maintaining a harmonious relationship between workers and employers in industrial establishment.

Maintaining industrial peace and harmony is a must in today's economy and the states should play a pivotal role in this regard. This they can do by periodic revision of minimum wages and timely redress of workers' grievances, labour and employment minister Mallik Arjun Kharge said here.

He was talking at a crucial three-party meeting to review actions taken in cases of reported violent incidents in industrial units in Delhi and NCR in the recent past.

The meeting was attended by labour ministers of Delhi and Haryana, labour commissioner of Uttar Pradesh and representatives of workers organisations, including BMS, CITU, INTUC, AITUC and HMS.
