J&K to govt teachers: no moonlighting as private tutors

State education department order includes lectures and teachers alike

Jammu and Kashmir government has barred private tuition by teaching fraternity, including lecturers in the state.

The education department has issued an order on Tuesday prohibiting officials, lecturers and teachers attached with the government from taking any assignment of private tuition, coaching in private educational institutes and coaching centres in the state.

As per the notification issued by the chief education officer (CEO) Jammu, all the principals, headmasters and zonal education officers (ZEOs) have been asked to implement the prohibition order strictly.

The practice of assignment of private tuition, coaching in private educational institutes and private coaching centres was a serious violation of Jammu and Kashmir Employees conduct rules Act, 1971, the CEO said.

Those officials, lecturers and teacher violating the direction would attract panel action, including reduction of rank and removal from services, he said.
