Kerala chief minister V S Achuthanandan today asserted that the CPI (M)-led LDF government was committed to rehabilitating all landless people in the State.

"The government is determined to speed up the ongoing rehabilitation of the landless by taking over the excess land from the landlords and the task would be executed before the government completed its term by next year," he said.

CPI (M) would face the 2011 assembly polls only after rehabilitating the remaining landless people, he said, inaugurating a function to distribute title deeds in Kasaragod Taluk.

Having distributed free land to 1.30 lakh landless people over the last four years, the government would now focus on completing the task in 'swift and transparent' manner by next year to ensure that no person in Kerala was deprived of landed property, Achuthanandan said.

A special drive would be launched to take over excess land in possession of landlords in various parts of the state,he added.
