A local court has granted permission to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to carry out further probe into the Margao bomb blast.

The NIA has already filed chargesheet in Margao blast case accusing 11 people of hatching a conspiracy to execute serial explosions in the coastal state on October 16, 2009.

South District sessions court on Monday granted permission to the investigation agency under section 173 of CrPC to probe further the conspiracy.

Of the total eleven accused, five are absconding, two have died while four have been arrested by NIA.

The investigators had filed a chargesheet on May 17 after 180 days of the accused in the custody were getting over.

NIA in their chargesheet has said that the accused wanted to have blasts at five places in Goa including Margao and Sancoale.

Two accused, Malgonda Patil and Yogesh Naik, had died after the explosives they were ferrying to be planted at crowded place in Margao went off in their scooter dickey on Diwali eve last year.

Two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were defused at Sancoale by bomb disposal squad (BDS).

Two accused, Vinayak Patil and Vinay Talekar, both in police custody now, had purchased second hand mobile sets from a shop in Margao.

They also purchased two SIM cards with forged identity as they were aware that the police, during the investigation, will get to them through the mobile phones.

The investigators had also recovered remnants of IED, which was similar to IEDs used in both the incidents - Margao and Sancoale, from a roadside nullah on Margao-Ponda highway.
