'Maya, Mulayam responsible for criminalisation of UP'

BJP national general secretary Anant Kumar says Bihar has become a "model state" under BJP rule

PTI | February 22, 2012

BJP national general secretary Anant Kumar has alleged that both Mayawati and Mulayam Singh were responsible for "criminalisation" of Uttar Pradesh, which has adversely affected the economic development of the state.

In last 10 years, industrialists have migrated from UP and settled in Bihar, Gujarat and Uttarakhand due to security issues, Kumar claimed.

Bihar had become a "model state" under BJP rule and UP was waiting for "total" development, which only his party could bring, he claimed.

Strongly criticising Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, for openly violating election norms, he said action must be initiated by the poll body against erring leaders.

Mayawati and Mulayam Singh have traded charges on the increasing incidents of crime related to women, but none of them have been able to curb the atrocities, he alleged.

Women had felt safe under the BJP regime, he claimed.

He also called promises of 18 per cent reservation for Muslims by Mulayam Singh-led SP and other parties as "totally unconstitutional."

The BJP will form the next government in UP as the voters feel "starved of development," he claimed.
