Union Cabinet to clear Rs 6,000 crore project........

An innovative programme National Knowledge Network (NKN)
with an estimated cost of 6000 crores an ambitious project to connect with
gigabit capabilities to connect all Universities, Libraries,
Laboratories, Hospitals,
Agricultural Institutions to share data across country is expected to be
passed by the Union Cabinet on Thursday.

Cabinetis to discuss this agenda paper to be moved by A Raja
Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology

National Knowledge Network is an initiative that will enable India leapfrog
into knowledge scoiety and knowledge driven economy.

Establish an ultra high speed national information and data across the country.

Connecting to 8 metros, 2500 cities and 2500  major towns before 2020.
