Nitish asks Dalai Lama to organise world-level meet in Bihar

Assures land will be made available for monastry

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today requested the Dalai Lama to organise a world-level religious programme on Kalchakra initiations in Bihar and assured him that efforts would be made to make land available for a monastery here.

The 32nd Kalchakra initiations, which began on December 31, concluded at Kalchakra maidan in this key Buddhist pilgrim centre of Bihar during the day.

Kumar said the Buddhist religious programme would provide inspiration for creating an atmosphere of peace in the country and the world and thanked the Tibetan spiritual head for his religious discourse on the occasion.

The Dalai Lama released a book 'Divine Religion' authored by Hollywood actor Richard Gere and was honoured by the chairman of Kalchakra puja committee Rama Khandu.

Over three lakh Buddhist devotees from 64 countries and from within, specially Arunachal Pradesh participated in the religious programme, Kumar said at the programme.

He also invited Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki to visit Bihar frequently.

The Dalai Lama presented a memento to Nitish Kumar and Speaker U N Choudhary.
