No non-state subject in NPR: J&K

All permanent residential address data will be sent to state of domicile, says satte

Jammu and Kashmir census department today said no non-state subject working in the state will be included in national population register (NPR) of Jammu and Kashmir.

"There is no scope for any non-state subject working in JK to get counted, as his Permanent Residential Address that he fills in his NPR form from the place of work will be sent to his own state,"  a census department spokesperson said.

While addressing a public meeting in Kupwara on May 17, Chairman of hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani had said there was the possibility of such inclusion in state NPR.

The spokesman gave specific example of Governor N N Vohra who has filed the form at Srinagar has very clearly in the form shown his permanent address at Gurgaon, Haryana.

Accordingly, his unique Identity Card will be issued for Haryana on basis of his permanent address.

The same shall be applicable to all other senior level officers, employees etc who are non-state subjects and working in the state, he said.
