The Prime Minister's Task Force on Micro, Small Medium Enterprises (MSME) has recommended the setting up of a corpus of Rs 100 crore by the Centre for implementing a special rehabilitation package for sick industrial units in Jammu and Kashmir.

"The Prime Minister's Task Force on MSME has suggested the setting up of a corpus of 100 crore by the Government of India for implementing a special rehabilitation package on easier terms for identified sick units in J&K", Minister of Industries and Commerce S S Slathia said while replying to the question of member Subash Chander Gupta in Legislative Council.

The matter is under consideration of the Centre, he added.

Slathia said the Centre and the state government have extended various concessions and incentives to prospective industrialists which are enumerated in the J&K Industrial policy.

He said industrial estates are being developed by the government for which funds for the acquisition of land and development of infrastructure has been provided.

The minister said 53 acres of land have been acquired for a cement plant at Sahar Logate.

At village Dhelta and village Chak Bulanda in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district, over 107 acres have been identified for an industrial estate and the matter has been taken up with the Deputy Commissioner Kathua.

There are certain concessions available for revival of sick industrial units, he said.

The department has sanctioned soft loan of Rs 74.96 lakh for 8 units.
