Led by the BJP MPs Rama Devi and Radhamohan Singh, protesters on Sunday blocked train services at Bapudham Motihari railway station in Bihar's East Champaran district to put pressure on the Centre for setting up the proposed Central University of Bihar (CUB) at Motihari.

The protesters, agitating under the banner of Mahatma Gandhi Kendriya Vishwavidyalaya Sangarsh Morcha (MGKVSM) comprising several political and non-political outfits, sat on the tracks for two hours to press for their demands.

Some protesters also jumped on the engine of a train and raised slogans against HRD Minister Kapil Sibal for rejecting Motihari as the location of the proposed central university and preferring Gaya instead.

Several trains, including Saptkranti Express, Mithila Express, remained stuck at Bapudham Motihari railway station for two hours during the duration of the rail roko agitation and departed for various destination only after the agitators called off the stir, assistant station master Dilip Singh said.
