Rahul deserves to be shown black flags: Kirit Somaiya

Black flags for Rahul's dubious stand over black money :BJP leader

PTI | February 7, 2012

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya on Tuesday said Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi "deserves to be shown black flags" due to his "dubious stand on black money".

"Rahul is miffed at black flags being waved at rallies addressed by him across poll-bound Uttar Pradesh. But the fact remains that he deserves to be shown black flags on account of his dubious stand on black money," he told reporters here.

The BJP national secretary was reacting to Rahul's criticism of yoga guru Ramdev. The Congress leader had yesterday accused Ramdev of sending people at his rallies to wave black flags and raise slogans.

Somaiya said, "Ramdev is doing a commendable job. He has been fighting for bringing back black money stashed away in tax havens abroad. If he succeeds, it will be a great service on his part to the country."

"The Congress is all set to receive a drubbing in the UP assembly elections...Rahul is incapable of getting a chief minister of his choice in the country's largest state," he claimed.

Reacting to AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh's reported statement that there is a possibility of president's rule being imposed in Uttar Pradesh if his party fails to come to power, Somaiya said, "This amounts to threatening the voters...This is a serious matter and clearly violative of the model code of conduct...The BJP will approach the Election Commission with a complaint in this regard."
