PTI | April 27, 2011

Aiming to make medical care available to all, government hospitals in Rajasthan will provide medicines free of cost to all patients from October 2 this year.

"Gandhi Jayanti will mark the day when the state will launch the initiative of making free medicines available in all state-run hospitals, including dispensaries in rural areas," Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot told reporters here today.

"These medicines will be made available to all patients, be it from any section," he said.

He said generic medicines will also be used to make the programme a success.

On his government's policies for economically weaker sections, Gehlot said BPL families were being provided 25 kg wheat per month at a rate of Rs 2 per kg.
