Railways have decided to bar web-based ticket agents of the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) from getting access to tatkal bookings from 8 am to 9 am. The decision has been taken following rising number of complaints from people regarding crashing of the IRCTC website during this period.
There are complaints that agents corner tickets between 8 am and 9 am and tatkal quota gets exhausted within minutes, said a Railway official.
"Taking such complaints into account, Railways have decided not to give the web-based agents and webservices agents of the IRCTC access to tatkal booking from 8 am to 9 am," he said, adding the decision will be implemented shortly. The IRCTC official said that acting on the new directives of the railways some changes will made in the software accordingly.
The railways see over 9.5 lakh booking across the country each day, 30 per cent of which is done through the IRCTC portal. There are approximately about eight lakh agents under IRCTC.

How does this bar agents ... @Tanveer - you mention everything like some social service that you are doing. You can use the IRCTC website to book tickets with the details that the passengers give. Dont make a mockery out of a good decision made to make life easier for end users
Zaher, Gujarat: All agents are losing and customers suffering because we have been blocked from booking tatkal tickets. The online tatkal is still not accessible for the common people. they are now having to stand in queues at the windows from 3 am to get their tickets. railways must immediately restore tatkal access to travel agencies.

It really does not make any sense allowing Tatkal tickets to book by customers, how may customers know to book tatkal ticket, train numbers, origin and destination codes, how may of them hold credit cards, how many of them hold online bank accounts, how many of them know how to cancel ticket and get the refunds from IRCTC. Agents and customers get same access to book online Tatkal tickets. No agent can go out of the way and book Tatkal tickets online as website works same to customer and agents both. IRCTC has to improve their own website rather than blaming Agents. But still the problem is not solved of Service Unavailable.
Getting window tickets from counter is not so easy as well for common man, get early in the morning 4am wait in the queue to get waiting tickets in Hand, there are ladies,e college girls and student who cant go in the morning and stand in a queue. They have to rely on Agents who help in getting tickets for them.
Agents are agents and government cant break the relationshio between agents and customers.

NOW WE ALL AGENT SHOULD CALL TO IRCTC AGENT CELL (011-23345700)& TELL THEM TO AGAIN START THE TATKAL TICKET BOOKING FOR AGENT & WE ALL HAVE RO MAIL TO IRCTC REGARDING THIS ,WE ALL AGENT HAVE FIGHT FOR THIS BECAUSE WE ARE AUTHORIZE BY IRCTC & THEY HAVE NOT MENTION THAT THEY CAN ABANDED US BY BOOKING TATKAL TICKET .
NOW ALSO AFTER THERE THIS DICESION "SERVICE UNAVAILBLE" IS THERE .
THEY HAVE TO IMPOVE THERE SITE CAPICITY ,WHICH THEY ARE NOT DOING ,THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO SOLVE THE "SERVICE UNAVAILBLE" PROBLUM SO THEY
HAVE BAN US FROM BOOKING . WE HAVE PAID MONEY FOR THERE LICENCE & HOW CAN THEY BAN US FROM BOOKING .SO WE ALL HAVE DO SOME THING FAST .

Actually the tickets are cornered by the nexus between the Touts /unauthoirsed agents and the PRS Personnels. So the authorities should take proper action after getting the acutal reason behind this serious problem which in any way is harming the common man. Any action taken should benefit the common man and not for the benefit of unscruplous agents/touts or the corrupt officials.
