The controversial 'signature' bridge in East Delhi may finally see the light of the day, with Delhi government floating tender for the over Rs 1,100 crore project.

The tender for construction of the showpiece project of the city government, has already been floated but the final approval on the cost component will have to be given by the cabinet, which is expected to take up the matter on Wednesday, a top official said.

The cost of the project, first mooted almost seven years back to link NH-1 on the western bank of Yamuna with Wazirabad, has been pegged at Rs 1,193 crore as per latest estimate, he told PTI.

"The decision to go ahead with the project has already been taken. We are now waiting for the formal approval by the cabinet," the official said.
