The six new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-like hospitals coming up in various parts in the country will have energy efficient buildings. Speaking to Governance Now, Ajay Mathur, director general of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) said that the bureau has provided an expert architect to each of the new AIIMS coming up.
“We have provided these institutions with architects to hold their hand while they design their buildings,” said Mathur.
Earlier, speaking at a press conference organised by the Ansal group, Deepak Gupta, secretary, ministry of new and renewable energy said that five hospitals that the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) was coming up with were also being designed in an energy efficient manner.
Gupta also said that their ministry was in talks with the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry to convince them that the new Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) coming up in the country should have green buildings and be green campuses. “These campuses should be models for the world,” he added.
