Sonia on leave: to vacation in Shimla

Will take a break ahead of the second part of budget session

GN Bureau | April 1, 2010

Congress president Sonia Gandhi is planning a four-day holiday with her family from April 6. While her destination is not a secret for security purposes, sources say she is going to Shimla.

Between playing with her grandchildren and being host to her mother, Gandhi will also spend time to reflect upon the political scenario.

During her short break, she is likely to finalise the list of advisers she is expected to rope in for the National Advisory Council, which she now heads again.

The vacation will provide her an opportunity to recharge ahead of the second half of the budget session. In the mid-term, the party will have to start strategising for the Bihar assembly elections.

With her new role as the NAC chief, Gandhi is sure to take proactive part in formulating the government policies and to bring them in line with the party's aam aadmi-centric policies.
