With Samajwadi Party all set to observe a protest day across the state tomorrow, the Uttar Pradesh government today said that no permission has been taken for the same and asked the political parties to practice restrain in holding agitations and processions.

"The UP government is of the view that in democratic system political parties should put forth their views in a disciplined manner and should not disturb the law and order situation or loss of property as agitations affect common people most," cabinet secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh told reporters here.

He said that information has been received that SP has announced to observe protest day across the state tomorrow.

"The party has not taken any permission from the administration either in Lucknow or any other district to organise meeting, procession or demonstration," Singh said.

He said that during SP's three-day protest from March 7, a lot of problems and inconvenience was faced by the people," the cabinet secretary said.

He said that from time to time Supreme Court has also issued stern directives on the issue and they were binding on the state government.

"The court's directive would be strictly enforced in case of loss to any private or public property," he said.

He said that a request is being made to all political parties to maintain peace and tranquillity in the state.

"They should not take any step so that problems are being faced by the people. Political parties and leaders should behave as per their dignity," Singh said.

He said that as high school and intermediate exams are starting from tomorrow, political parties should keep in mind that problems are not faced by students.

"Besides Holi festival will be celebrated on March 19 and 20 and communal forces taking benefit of agitations and demonstrations can make an effort to disturb communal harmony in the state," the cabinet secretary said.

"In the interest of the state it is a humble request that political parties should remain disciplined and cooperate in maintaining law and order," he added.
