The Delhi High Court today issued notices to MCD and four private firms after taking note of a plea challenging the award of tender for collecting toll from commercial vehicles here.

"Issue notices to MCD and others," a division bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Rajiv Shakdher said.

The court was hearing a petition filed by M/s Sahakar Global Ltd against the award of tender by MCD to M/s SMS Infrastrucure Ltd for collecting toll from all commercial vehicles at 121 entry points to the national capital.

The bench, which did not stay the operation of grant of licenses to the private firms, however, said the fate of the tender process will depend on the outcome of the petition.

It asked the civic body and four private firms to reply to the plea within four weeks and fixed the matter for final hearing on August 18.
