Another Modi emerged triumphant in Gujarat on Monday. No, we are not talking about prime minister Narendra Modi who is credited with scripting the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh victories, but it is about the other Modi who contested from Surat West seat.

BJP candidate Purnesh Modi won the Surat West seat, bagging 1,11,615 votes. He defeated Congress candidate Patel Iqbal Daud, who got 33,733 votes.

In the Gujarat election, there was a Narendrabhai in the fray too. But, he bit the dust.

In Maninagar constituency, BJP’s Patel Sureshbhai Dhanjibhai defeated Brambhatt Shwetaben Narendrabhai of the Congress. Dhanjibhai got 116,113 votes while Narendrabhai got 40,914 votes.
