Tamil Nadu government today reduced power cut to industries from the present 30 per cent to 20 per cent.

An official press release said the chief minister M Karunanidhi, ordering the reduction, had instructed the state electricity board to implement it immediately.

The load shedding for domestic consumers had also been reduced from three hours to two hours from today,it said.

There was no load shedding in Chennai and its suburbs.

The power cut was increased from 20 per cent to 30 per cent and load shedding introduced in the state from March 28 last as there was stoppage of generation of wind energy, leading to power shortage.

The reduction in the power cut and load shedding was now possible due to extra power got through wind energy, it said.
