Top leaders to decide on post-poll tie-ups in UP: Khurshid

Beni Prasad Verma has favoured a tie-up with BSP

PTI | March 5, 2012

Congress leader Salman Khurshid has said the party's top leadership will decide on the issue of post-polls tie-ups in Uttar Pradesh.

When asked about Beni Prasad Verma's comment, in which he has favoured BSP as a better option for coalition than SP, Law Minister Salman Khurshid refrained from commenting and said "directions of the top leadership will be followed after two days when election results will be out."

Beni Prasad Verma, Union Minister and senior Congress leader from the state, has favoured a tie-up with BSP, a comment from which the party quickly distanced itself.

"I have no anxiety nor I am having sleepless nights with the election results because I am sure that our party is still in game in UP and I am confident that the party has good prospects in western UP," said Khurshid while replying to the queries of media persons at Amity University here.

Actual position will emerge on March 6, he said. At the concluding session of moot court competition held at the university, Khurshid called upon the would be lawyers to hone their skills and not to restrict themselves to corporate boardrooms but come to the Bar and then to the Bench and contribute to the system.
